Psi chapter’s fall philanthropy, KAT@Bat, was a grand slam once again. The annual softball tournament took place on the morning of October 4th and was a brisk fall day, perfect for the games. Thetas, players and spectators made their way to the Natatorium softball fields on campus for a morning of intense competition and fun on the field. Many different organizations made teams, from the UW Band to the women of Tri Delta, it was great to see such a big turnout. There were two brackets for the teams and the games ran all day. Winning the competitive bracket were the men of Delta Tau Delta and the 200 Langdon team took the non-competitive bracket trophy. Thetas took roles as umpires, coaches and cheerleaders. “I always look forward to the all day games and this year was definitely an incredible success,” sophomore Courtney Schmidt said.
In addition to the profits raised by participating teams, shirts were sold and donations were accepted to generate additional funds. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the chapter’s diligent work we were able to raise money for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Dane County. CASA is an association that works nationwide, as well as specifically in Dane County to ensure that neglected, abandoned, or abused children in the court system are provided with an adult for one-on-one support. CASA mentors form special bonds with the children and act as a voice of advocacy in the courtroom and home life to ensure the child’s best interest is represented.
